MARINE ON ST. CROIX — The St. Croix River Association hosts its Second Annual Kids on the Water event from 3 to 5 p.m. Aug. 3 at the Marine Landing in Marine on St. Croix.
Kids on the Water is a fun, free event to get your families outside for river-related activities.

Participants can “test-drive” and sample three kinds of watercraft:
l Three options of kayaks — tandem, single and pedal.
l Canoes – the usual, intended for two or more folks.
l Popular stand-up paddle boards. Stand up paddle board availability is dependent upon water level and flow. If we receive high amounts of rain, a faster current in the river will make this activity difficult for beginners and will not be offered.
Persons with their own canoe or kayak can bring them  out for a paddle on the St. Croix.

Other kid-friendly activities include making a fish print t-shirt at a station sponsored by the National Park Service; see some of the critters that call the St. Croix River home; learn about native plants and make a native seed ball for your yard or garden; temporary tattoos, and a bean bag toss.

Watermelon and root beer floats will be served. Additionally, families who sign up for SCRA’s $25 annual membership, or renew their membership, will be in a drawing to win a $25 gift certificate from 45 Degrees in Stillwater.

Space is limited. Visit stcroixriverassociation.org/kids-on-the-water-2/ to sign up. The event is sponsored by the Marine Landing, Hi Tempo SnowSports and WaterSports, the NPS and SCRA.
