Football: Ricci and Thingvold play for North squad in All-Star Game

Recent Stillwater graduates Nate Ricci and Derrick Thingvold finished off their prep football careers by playing for the North All-Stars in Saturday’s Minnesota High School All-Star Football Game at St. Cloud State University’s Husky Stadium.

Despite falling behind 7-0, the South All-Stars rallied for a 24-14 victory to take a 10-9-1 in the overall series with the North vs. South format.

Thingvold, who will continue his football career at Winona State University, played right tackle for the North squad while Ricci played quarterback, running back and receiver — in addition to lining up for punt returns.

Ricci rushed four times for eight yards and also caught two passes for nine yards. The versatile University of Minnesota-Duluth recruit also completed all four of his pass attempts for 31 yards. He contributed to a 300-210 advantage in total yards for the North squad — including a 17-10 advantage in first downs.
