BAYPORT — Oakdale city official Logan Martin has been chosen as Bayport’s next city administrator.
The 29-year-old Martin is currently a community-development specialist for Oakdale and as held the position since 2009. He was previously an administrative intern for Oakdale and was hired after his internship was complete.
Martin attended Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minn., and graduated in 2006 with a bachelor’s degree in political science and criminal justice. He has a master’s degree in public administration from Hamline University in St. Paul and a graduate certificate in economic development.
Martin is the son of a police officer and said he “has always had a public service mentality.”
Sara Taylor, the assistant city administrator for Bayport, has been acting city administrator since former City Administrator Mitch Berg resigned March 2. Berg’s resignation came after the Bayport City Council started an investigation on allegations Berg violated the city’s code of conduct and personnel policy. The council closed the investigation, accepted Berg’s resignation and took no further action against the former administrator.
Martin is expected to start work as city administrator in late July. His salary is being negotiated and will be presented to the Bayport City Council next week.
“I can’t wait to get started and continue to provide a great quality of life to Bayport residents,” Martin said.
