Stillwater Area High School is partnering with FitNation Donation to sponsor a Fit-Drive event in the main parking lot from 6-8 p.m., on Thursday, June 20. People are being asked to donate their used and unwanted exercise equipment on behalf of the Stillwater Schools. The donated equipment will provide funding for new strength equipment and renovation of the current weight room facility at the High School.
“We think this is a terrific opportunity for the community to help the school while getting rid of equipment they are no longer using,” said Joel Scalzo, Director of Charitable Partnerships at FitNation Donation, which is a facilitator of donation-based funding through used exercise equipment. “That’s a win-win scenario that helps reduce expense and recycle equipment at the same time.”
Stillwater football coach Beau LaBore is excited about the potential for this event, which provides the community an opportunity to recycle old equipment.
“Our weight room and equipment is in need of improvement.” LaBore said. “The Fit-Drive will help us acquire some new equipment and replace some old.”
People are asked to drop their equipment off at the high school during the scheduled time, with the assistance of the Fit-Drive team. If they are unable to attend the event, or need assistance in donating the equipment, they can call the Fit-Drive hotline (952) 240-8638 to arrange a collection time. The Fit-Drive team will arrive at their home to collect the equipment. For additional information, contact Joel Scalzo, who is the Director of Charitable Partnerships for FitNation, at 952-240-8638.
