Boys lacrosse: Bears trip up Stillwater

WHITE BEAR LAKE — The Stillwater boys’ lacrosse team had its season ended with Saturday’s 14-8 loss to White Bear Lake in the Section 4 semifinals.

The Bears went on to defeat top-seeded Mahtomedi in the section finals on Tuesday to qualify for the state tournament.

“It may not show up on the scoreboard, but this was our best game of the year,” Stillwater coach Ryan Clark said. “Our defense matched up well with a very strong offense. We did a lot of things right. While ending a season is always difficult, it feels satisfying to know that we left it on the field. We will really miss our graduates, but I am excited to watch our returning contributors take the lead.”

Matt Kaye and Harrison Yaste each tallied two goals for the Ponies, who also received a goal each from George Uppgren, Sam Sagissor, Nick Athmann and Jeff Petersen.

Ted Ramert totaled six goals and an assist for the Bears in Saturday’s victory over the Ponies, who finished the season with an 11-4 record.
