HUDSON, Wis. Stanley George Ostendorf, 72, of New Richmond, Wis., and formerly of Roberts, Wis., passed away on May 31, 2013, surrounded by his loving family at his home in Richmond Township following a brief battle with cancer. Stan was born on Feb. 8, 1941, in Clara City, Minn., to John and Elizabeth (Aeikens) Ostendorf in Rheiderland Township, Minn. He attended school in Clara City, and graduated from Clara City High School. On Sept. 9, 1983, he was united in marriage to Ann Louise Schoenfelder at Pioneer Park in Stillwater. Over the years, they made their home in Roberts and more recently New Richmond. Stan worked many years at the Bayport Correctional Facility. He retired in 1996 as lieutenant and was a proud member of their Prison Honor Guard. Stan loved being outdoors — working in his vegetable garden or simply driving on the country roads. Stan and his brothers also enjoyed participating in country western skits, especially the “OK Corral.” He had a great appreciation of the old West working with his quarter horses. He frequently wintered with Ann in San Tan Valley, Ariz. Stan will be remembered for his calm, polite demeanor with his trimmed goatee and cowboy hat. He is survived by his wife, Ann; son, Vince (Jodi) Ostendorf of New Richmond; grandchildren, Jacob, Emily and Brianna; son-in-law: James (Lynn) Cave of Roberts; brothers: Gene (Darlene) Ostendorf of Ellsworth, Wis., Art Ostendorf of Clara City, Minn., and Jim (Sally) Ostendorf of Sturgeon Lake, Minn.; sister, Mardell (Geoff) Stromquist of Stacy, Minn., along with many nieces, nephews and dear friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Elizabeth Ostendorf; daughter, Lisa Cave, and sister-in-law, Donna Mae Ostendorf.
