Summer program at Salem L.C.

Summer means road trips, so join Salem Lutheran Church for their summer program “Road Trip: Route 3:16” and spend time with Jesus at the Stillwater church.

Children and adults are invited for daily activities June 17-21. People are invited to discover the lengths to which Jesus drove for them. Call 651-439-7831 or visit salemlutheran.org/summer fun for details and registration. A Classic Car Show is the evening of June 20.

Couple speaks in New Brighton

Stillwater native and American Medical Association award-winner Dr. Mark Jacobson, speaks during June 9 worship at Christ the King Lutheran Church in New Brighton.

Jacobson and his wife, Linda, have served in Tanzania since 1985 providing medical care for thousands of people living in poverty in East Africa. Past work has included transforming rural programs into Selian Lutheran Hospital and the planning the Arusha Lutheran Medical Center in Tanzania. The hospital and medical center serve 150,000 people annually.

Future plans include nursing school and a surgical residency program to start in 2014. The Jacobsons serve marginalized and disabled people as well as those living with HIV/AIDS and other issues as well. Linda Jacobson addresses domestic violence issues during their time there.

The Jacobsons speak at the 9 and 10:30 a.m. worship services.
