Two ISD 834 staffers offered new jobs

School districts offer Redmond, Queener superintendent positions

Two Independent School District 834 administrators are to new chapters in their professional careers with offers to lead other school districts.

Director of Secondary Schools Mike Redmond and Assistant Superintendent of Business and Administrative Services Ray Queener have been offered superintendent jobs at two different school districts.

Redmond is leaving his ISD 834 post to become Goodhue School District superintendent after one year in Stillwater.

“(Being here for just a year) certainly wasn’t the game plan,” he said, “But I’m very excited and it feels like it’s the right place at the right time. The community at Goodhue has been incredibly welcoming and though I’m sad to be leaving, I’m very happy to start the next chapter of my professional career.”

Queener has been offered the superintendent position in the Cambridge-Isanti Indpendent School District. He’s been with ISD 834 for 10 years.

“Pending the contract talks, I will likely take it,” he said about the Cambridge-Isanti post. “I’m excited about the opportunity and I’m excited for a new opportunity to take the next step in my career at Cambridge-Isanti. It’s going to be good to work for and with them. It’s also going to be tough to leave. I work with a group of tremendously talented people here in Stillwater and it’s just a great community so there’s a lot of mixed emotions.”

ISD 834 Superintendent Corey Lunn said he’s very happy for both men, but also sad to see them leave.

“It speaks volumes about our district that talent and expertise is being sought out from us. On one hand it’s great because they’re taking the next step in their career but it’s sad also because we’re losing some great talent and expertise as well and I wish them the best,” he said.
