Derosier joins extension panel

WashCo_logoGrant resident and farmer Terence Derosier was appointed to a three-year term on Washington County’s Minnesota Extension Committee by the Board of Commissioners Tuesday.

Derosier previously served as 4-H president and in other 4-H offices as a youth. His term expires Dec. 31, 2015.

The county’s Extension Committee implements education programs and services by extension agents in agriculture, economic and human development, community leadership, environment and natural resources. The committee works with the County Board through the Department of Public Health and Environment.

Board OKs contracts with agencies

LifeStyle Adult Day Center and Forever Cares Home Care will provide home and community-based services to Washington County residents under contracts approved Tuesday by the Board of Commissioners.

LifeStyle Adult Day Center is licensed by the state Department of Human Services and provides adult day care services to elderly and disabled clients that include bath, nutrition, out-of-home respite and transportation.

Forever Cares is a Class B home care agency providing services to elderly and disabled clients that include personal care assistance, homemaker, chore, companion and in-home respite care.

The Community Services Department provides case management to determine if clients need adult day care services. CSD staff can authorize LifeStyle Adult Day Care and Forever Cares Home Care as contract vendors to provide services and the vendors bill the state. Services are paid for with federal and state funds.

West Lakeland  plat approved

A two-lot plat in West Lakeland Township was approved by the Washington County Board of Commissioners Tuesday.

The plat is on approximately 15.05 acres in the J.V. Peterson Addition south of 10th Street North, east of Oakgreen Avenue North, west of Stagecoach Trail North and north of Interstate 94. The county’s Plat Commission approved the West Lakeland plat May 1.
In addition to approving the West Lakeland plat, commissioners also approved a 14.43-acre, two-lot plat for Jasper Estates southeast of the Mississippi River and west of County Road 75 in Grey Cloud Island.

State law requires the County Board approve plats in townships.
