Baseball: Ponies fall short against C-DH

ST. PAUL — It was a complete reversal from their previous meeting this season as Cretin-Derham Hall defeated Stillwater 7-1 in Wednesday’s Suburban East Conference baseball game.

The Ponies (2-6 SEC, 2-6), who defeated the Raiders 6-1 earlier this season, managed just four hits off Rob Mouton this time around. Mouton, struck out five and did not allow a walk.

“Mouton pitched a great game,” Ponies coach Mike Parker said. “He’s a hard-throwing kid and we got a run early, but he basically shut us down after that.”

Cretin-Derham Hall answered Stillwater’s early tally with a run in the bottom of the first and added runs in four of the next five innings to pull away.

“Tonight they beat us in all phases of the game,” Parker said. “They played a solid game. We were with them defensively, but they pitched and they hit.”
