Girls lacrosse: Stillwater improves to 5-0

OAK PARK HEIGHTS — Dana Almquist continued her torrid scoring pace with eight goals as Stillwater cruised to a 23-4 Suburban East Conference girls’ lacrosse victory over White Bear Lake on Monday at Stillwater Area High School.

Stillwater has outscored its opponents a combined 94-33 this season. Almquist has 40 goals by herself to go along with 10 assists for the unbeaten Ponies (5-0 SEC, 5-0), who are ranked third in the state coaches poll.

Kate Sheely chipped in with five goals while Carter Sanderson added four goals and joined Almquist with two assists for the Ponies, who jumped out to an 11-2 halftime lead. Maggie Corman contributed three goals and an assist.

Marie Bonine turned away seven shots in goal for Stillwater, which travels to Woodbury for a conference game on Wednesday.
