Downtown panel’s report, public hearings before council

stillwater            The Stillwater City Council will hear a discussion of the downtown business mix, hold two public hearings and discuss a possible events coordinator position at its meeting Tuesday.

Todd Streeter and Pat Wolf will present the Stillwater Area Chamber of Commerce’s findings regarding opportunities the downtown revitalization committee has identified to generate a new thriving downtown. The pair will discuss studies that could be done ensure the most positive impact occurs, transforming the downtown area into a place that can grow into the future.

This downtown presentation, along with a presentation on the Lowell Park restrooms, are at the council’s 4:30 p.m. meeting.

At the 7 p.m. meeting, two public hearings regarding the Lennar Corp.’s, final plat amendment to a planned-unit development at Settlers Glen, and a request from a surveying company, will be considered regarding annexation of property located on the 13000 block of Boutwell Road North.

Stilllwater Police Officer Brent Campbell will be sworn in, and the city will receive an honor from the Minnesota Citizens for the Arts. Discussion of an event coordinator position, possible approvals of the 2014 recommended parking lot rate, appointments to the Heritage Preservation Committee and discussion on aquatic plant management funding are also on the council’s agenda.
