Joyce Hooley

Joyce Hooley, 85, of Stillwater, died peacefully in her Stillwater home on April 19, 2013. Loving life to the very end, her last days were spent talking and laughing with her beloved husband Jack, her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She found joy in everything she did. She played expert bridge, golfed, skied, swam, played tennis, read, served as a longtime community volunteer and an active Carleton alumna. And she loved a tough crossword puzzle. There was no one like her. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, she was unfailing in her affection, warmth, and generosity. She was the eldest of three sisters (Nancy [Charles] Hooley and Judy [Tom] Wilson), she was born on Feb. 21, 1928, to Reuben (“Had”) and Stella Hadrath. She attended Carleton College from which she graduated in 1949. She married Jack in June of that year. She lived in Stillwater and, more recently, Naples Fla., all of her life. Joyce is survived by her husband Jack, her children Dan (Mary), John (Colleen), Mike (Amy), Shannon (Mike) Enright, and Tom (Patty), her grandchildren Ben (Laurie), Meghan (Brian) Scelfo, Ryan, Kate (Dodt), Joe, Ted, Kevin, Matt (Mary Mullen), Erin (Joe) Zauner, Patrick, Bridget, Maggie, Mary and Andrew, Danny and Eleanor Enright. Visitation was 4 to 7 p.m. Monday evening at the Social Hall of the Church of St. Michael and also for one hour prior to the Mass on Tuesday.  A Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m., Tuesday, April 23, 2013, at the Church of St. Michael, 611 S. Third St. in Stillwater, MN, 55082. Memorials can be sent to the Church of St. Michael, Healtheast Hospice or the donor’s choice of charities. Arrangements by the Simonet Funeral Home. Online condolences may be sent to www.simonetfuneralhome.com .
