mortal sins book coverPulitzer Prize-winning author Michael D’Antonio and Stillwater attorney Jeff Anderson will be at Valley Booksellers in Stillwater from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday to discuss and sign copies of the recently released book “MORTAL SINS: Sex, Crime and the Era of Catholic Scandal.”

D’Antonio — author of “Atomic Harvest,” “Forever Blue,” “Hershey” and more than a dozen other non-fiction books — won the Pulitzer Prize as a reporter for Newsday.
Anderson, a St. Paul lawyer, Stillwater resident and pioneer in the legal fight against clergy abuse, is featured prominently in the book. He is widely recognized as the world’s leading authority on clergy abuse and the law and has represented thousands of victims in 250 cases worldwide. “Mortal Sins” chronicles his legal and personal struggles as he helps victims of sexual abuse take on one of the most powerful institutions in the world.

Kirkus Review praises “Mortal Sins” saying, “The real life characters of the story range from colorful to tragic; flamboyant lawyers, alcoholic clerics and activist abuse survivors all help make the story a true page turner … In a readable manner (D’Antonio) has helped document a watershed era in the life of the Roman Catholic Church. Riveting and fascinating.”

The Buffalo News recently stated “… D’Antonio’s new book “Mortal Sins” will be the gold standard for unraveling what happened during the Catholic priests’ sex abuse scandal of the last three decades.”

Valley Booksellers is located at 217 North Main St. in Stillwater. Copies of the book will be available. All are invited. Anderson and D’Antonio will also host a book signing event and discussion from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday at the William Mitchel College of Law, Kelley Board Room, 875 Summit Avenue in St. Paul.
