BAYPORT — Talk about your special wedding present. Just before getting married in late January, Brenda and Bob Schuster purchased Hefty’s Roadhouse restaurant in Bayport Jan. 1.

The Schusters were welcomed to the St. Croix Valley with a Feb. 8 ribbon-cutting ceremony at Hefty’s sponsored by the Greater Stillwater Chamber of Commerce.

Known for live music on weekends and Tuesday hamburger specials, the western-themed bar and restaurant was previously owned by Jeff and Missy Hause. The Hauses bought and renovated the former Captain’s Corner bar in 2011.

“We purchased it in all its beauty from them. We were fortunate,” said Brenda Schuster.

Hefty’s is located on Minnesota 95 in downtown Bayport and continues featuring live music Saturday nights in addition to specials.
