Stillwater native wins Colorado duck stamp contest

A painting of greater scaups swimming in a lake painted by a self-taught artist from Stillwater now living and working in Colorado was selected as Colorado’s 2013 Waterfowl Stamp, officials with the Colorado Department of Natural Resources recently announced in Denver. Charles Black’s painting will be used on the state’s hunter version of the waterfowl stamp, with sale proceeds used for Colorado wetlands projects. Black began his career as an artist and avid outdoorsman at an young age and has devoted his life to wildlife research and management.
