SAHS Athletes of the Week
Lillyan Pan ‑ Gymnastics
A disappointing Section 4AA meet did not detract from what was a successful season for the Stillwater gymnastics team, which placed second behind eventual state champion Roseville in the Suburban East Conference and second behind Mahtomedi at the section meet.
Junior Lillyan Pan made a positive impact in her first year with the Ponies while adding depth behind top gymnast Kylie Wittl and also advancing to her first state meet. After finishing fourth in the vault at sections, Pan earned a spot in the state field on Saturday at the University of Minnesota Sports Pavilion, where she placed 27th with a score of 9.2.
The Ponies finished the season with an 8-1 dual meet record.
Brady Anderson ‑ Boys swimming and diving
The Stillwater boys’ swimming and diving team has squeezed plenty of highlights from a season that began following the graduation of last year’s stellar senior class.
Junior Brady Anderson is among the many who stepped up to help the Ponies defend their Section 4AA title after earlier qualifying for and placing third at the True Team state meet — matching the program’s best-ever showing in that event. Anderson helped pace the Ponies at Saturday’s section meet, advancing to state with a victory in the 100 butterfly, a second-place finish in the 100 backstroke and as part of Stillwater’s 200 medley and 400 freestyle relay teams.
Stillwater finished with a 6-3 dual meet record to place fourth in the SEC.
