Senior Kylie Wittl will deliver her final performance as a member of the Stillwater gymnastics team will competing with junior teammate Lillyan Pan in Saturday’s Class AA state meet at the University of Minnesota Sports Pavilion.
Wittl, who placed 14th in the vault and 26th in the uneven bars at state a year ago, is entered in the all-around, which covers all four events, but is also eligible for individual awards in the vault, bars and beam. As a sophomore, Wittl finished 22nd at state in the floor exercise.
Pan, meanwhile, will make her state debut while competing in the vault after placing fourth in that event at the Section 4AA Meet last weekend.
Both gymnasts are hoping to finish with a flourish following a disappointing runner-up showing in the team standings at the section meet, preventing the Ponies from making a repeat trip to state as a team.
The team competition will take place tonight, starting at 6 p.m., where Suburban East Conference rival Roseville — which handed the Ponies their only dual meet setback this season — is chasing its second straight state championship and sixth in the eight years. Park from the SEC is also competing in the state team competition.
