FARIBAULT, Minn. — Grace A. “Gracie” (Mrs. Joel) Hamre, 90, of Stillwater, and formerly of Faribault and Burnsville, died on Friday, Feb. 15, 2013, at the Good Samaritan Society of Stillwater.
Funeral services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013, at the Boldt Funeral Home in Faribault. Interment is at Meadow Ridge Memorial Park in Faribault with military rites provided by the Rice County Central Veterans Association.
Visitation is 9 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013, at the Boldt Funeral Home in Faribault.
Grace Anne, the daughter of Orpheus and Irene (Williams) Code, was born Aug. 21, 1922, in Bridgewater Township, Rice County, Minn. She graduated from Faribault High School. She served in the Women’s Army Corps (WAC) and the Women in the Air Force (WAF) during World War II.
Grace married Joel H. Hamre on April 28, 1949, at First English Lutheran Church in Faribault and he preceded her in death on Jan. 23, 2007.
Grace is survived by three children, Laura Anne (and Tom Weigenant) Dilodovico-Weigenant of Minneapolis, Paul (and Pam) Hamre of Stillwater, and Miles (and Anne) Hamre of Roseville; three grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; two siblings, Jane McDonough of Faribault and Mark (and Judy) Code of Northfield, and other relatives and friends.
Grace was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joel, and four siblings, John Code, Beatrice Smith, Gwen Drentlaw and Cecyle Kuntze.
