Sweet music by students

Students from the Afton-Lakeland Elementary School 45 Express Classroom participated in a music residency program with Nashville-based songwriter, Jeff Dayton last Friday. Eight groups of students from the combined classroom sang their works at a school assembly. This group sang their song "It Was You," about love, loss and life. The program was funded by A Partnership Plan grant (Gazette Staff Photo by Avery Cropp)

    Hi Gazette staff:
Thanks so much for covering the student songwriters at Afton-Lakeland School with your photo and caption. The teachers there are superb and the kids deserved all the praise they get for their creativity, heartfelt lyrics and enthusiasm.
It was my pleasure to be back in the St. Croix Valley for another songwriting residency and I hope to return for many more,.
    Sincerely,
    Jeff Dayton
