Boys basketball: Ponies shoot past Hastings

OAK PARK HEIGHTS — Chad Schlosser led a balanced scoring attack as Stillwater pulled away for a 79-42 Suburban East Conference boys’ basketball victory over Hastings on Tuesday at Stillwater Area High School.

Schlosser finished with 14 points to lead all scorers while teammates Joe Quinn and Joel Malwitz added 12 and 10 points apiece. Malwitz also led the Ponies with eight rebounds.

Stillwater (8-5 SEC, 14-6) scored the first six points of the game and were never seriously challenged, despite some indifferent play early.

“I thought we were a little stagnant to start, but the second half we slowed down and executed a little better,” Ponies coach Randy Jordan said. “We tried to use the game to get ready for Friday (at Roseville). We turned the ball over and shot too quickly to start, we want to work on that this week.”

Aaron Romportl chipped in with five points and seven rebounds for Stillwater.

Craig Nielsen lead the Raiders (1-12, 2-17) with 12 points.
