Girls basketball: Woodbury pulls away from Ponies

 

WOODBURY — Haley Balzart contributed 13 points and 12 rebounds for the Ponies, but Kristina White and Woodbury jumped out to a 32-point halftime lead and cruised to a 61-33 Suburban East Conference girls’ basketball victory over Stillwater on Friday night.

White, a Vermont recruit, finished with 28 points to lead all scorers while teammate Courtney Schiffler chipped in with 17 points.

Paige Becker and Rilee Day collected seven and six points each for the Ponies (1-13 SEC, 5-17), who committed 29 turnovers and shot just 18 percent (8 for 45) from the field. The Ponies scored nearly half of their points at the free throw line, connecting on 16 of 28 attempts.
