Safety upgrades on board agenda

SAISD 834 logoSafety upgrades and a comprehensive diversity plan are before the Independent School District 834 Board at its 5:30 p.m. learning and 7:15 p.m. business meetings tonight.

Director of Operations Dennis Bloom will share ideas about future school safety plans at the board’s 5:30 p.m. learning session at the Stillwater Public Library.
Short-term school building safety improvements include upgraded security systems, secured vestibules and developing staff for office coverage and a variety of other ideas. Among long-term goals are remodeling front entryways at schools, additional cameras and two-way radio coverage.

The short-term suggestions could cost $150,000 to $170,000 while long-term proposals could cost between $3 million and $3.5 million.

Other items on the board’s business meeting agenda include updates on the HealthPartners contract agreement with the possible on-site clinic and a report on AVID and the district’s 2013-2014 comprehensive diversity plan.
