LAKE ELMO — Minnesota wildlife biologist and landscape ecologist Rusty Schmidt explains rain garden methods, advantages and designs for large and small properties at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 7 at the Lake Elmo Public Library.
Schmidt, environmental engineer David Dods and vegetation specialist and landscape ecologist Dan Shaw co-authored “The Blue Thumb Guide to Raingardens: Design and Installation for Homeowners in the Upper Midwest. Schmidt designs and installs raingardens through the Washington Conservation District, specializing in environmentally conscious storm water runoff management. He has done habitat restoration, raingardens, bio-infiltration swales and stormwater retention ponds.
The program is in the library meeting room and copies of the raingarden guide are available for signing. The library is at 3537 Lake Elmo Ave. North.
