BAYPORT — Bayport City Administrator Mitch Berg remains on administrative leave while a complaint against him is being investigated, city officials said.
The nature of the complaint against Berg, when it was filed and name of the complainant are confidential under state law until there is a final disposition of the complaint, according to Bayport’s city attorney.
Berg’s suspension by the council earlier this month comes after the council accepted Berg’s resignation at its Jan. 7 meeting. Berg said on Dec. 20 he would resign but work through March 2 to help the city with the transition.
However, Berg rescinded his resignation Jan. 17, telling the council in an email that since the city was not pursuing an interim administrator, he felt there was “to much to do … at this point in time to resign.”
Berg announced his resignation in late December just days after the council announced it would hold a special meeting to discuss possible litigation surrounding the employment status of the city administrator.
