Boys basketball: Ponies clamp down on Park

OAK PARK HEIGHTS — Andrew Duxbury provided 18 points to set the scoring pace as Stillwater overwhelmed Park for a 69-23 Suburban East Conference boys’ basketball victory on Tuesday at Stillwater Area High School.

It marked the fifth straight victory for the Ponies, who also received nine points from Joe Quinn and eight points apiece from Joel Malwitz and Tony Lennox.

Six different players connected for at least one 3-pointer for the Ponies, who also limited Park to just eight field goals in the entire game.

The 23 points allowed by Stillwater set a new school record — bettering the 24 points it allowed in a victory over Mounds View in 2011.

Stillwater (7-3 SEC, 12-4), which jumped out to a 39-10 halftime lead, has not lost since falling to Forest Lake on Jan. 15.
