This marked the second consecutive loss for the Ponies (4-4-1 SEC, 7-6-1), who also fell to Hastings 2-1 in their season opener.

Andrew Bussey scored 28 seconds into the third period and Huneke added a goal three minutes later as the Raiders (5-4-0, 8-6-1) broke a 2-all tie. Chad Smith scored for Stillwater with three minutes remaining to close the gap, but the Raiders received a goal from Zach Mellick in the final minute to provide some breathing room. Mellick’s goal loomed larger after Jarrid Balz scored for the Ponies with just 12 seconds remaiming in the game to pull within 5-4.

Following a scoreless opening period, Nick Anderson scored at 1:33 of the second period on an assist by Jon Heddle, but Huneke and Blake Berg answered for the Raiders for a 2-1 Hastings lead. Mitch Reinke evened the score at 2-all with a power play goal on a blast from inside the blue line at 13:36 of the second period.
