Law graduates USMC training

U.S. Marine Corps Pvt. Nathaniel L. Law graduated in December from Marine Corps recruit training in San Diego.
Law, 18, is a 2012 Stillwater Area High School graduate who was enlisted by Sgt. Brandon L. Blazer from the Marine Corps’ Woodbury recruiting office.
After 10 days of leave, Law is attending school to learn his USMC occupational specialty. Law will report to his first duty station to serve with a Marine Corps unit.

Kowalski named to HRA board

Cottage Grove resident Matthew Kowalski was appointed to the Washington County Housing and Redevelopment Authority Board Tuesday by the Board of Commissioners.
Kowalski will represent commission District 4 on the HRA board. The panel consists of five citizens from each commissioner district, one county commissioner and one HRA consumer.

SCCS hosts spelling bee

St. Croix Catholic School holds its annual spelling bee at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the St. Michael’s Catholic Church Social Hall, school officials announced.
The SCCS spelling bee is a long-standing tradition at the school. The St. Michael’s Social Hall is located at 611 S. Third St. in Stillwater.
