Lohmer sworn in for second term

ST. PAUL — Rep. Kathy Lohmer (R-Lake Elmo) was sworn in as the state representative for House District 39B Tuesday in the Minnesota House of Representatives chamber at the State Capitol.
District 39B consists of Bayport, Baytown Township, Grant, Lake Elmo, Lake St. Croix Beach, Lakeland, Lakeland Shores, Oak Park Heights, Pine Springs, St. Mary’s Point, Stillwater, and West Lakeland Township.
“I am humbled and honored to be able to serve the people of central Washington County for another term,” Lohmer said. “I plan to work closely with Representative Dettmer, Senator Housley and our local officials on the challenges facing us as a community and as a state.”
I ran on the platform of limited government, fiscal responsibility, economic freedom, and keeping our community safe,” Lohmer added. “Even though I am now a member of the minority party in the Minnesota House, I intend to continue to fight for those principles.”
One of Lohmer’s specific priorities for her second term includes continuing her work to find education and housing solutions for families of children with severe autism. With her assignment to the Public Safety Finance & Policy Committee, Lohmer also plans to work to find funding for the Lower St. Croix Valley Fire Department’s requirement to respond to calls on Interstate 94. Currently, the small municipalities in that area are required to pay that cost.
Lohmer’s committee assignments include Higher Education Finance & Policy, Jobs & Economic Development Finance & Policy, and Public Safety Finance & Policy.
