Main Street Italian restaurant celebrates its new wine and spirits store
Nestled in downtown Stillwater’s historic caves, Luna Rossa Wine & Spirits marked its grand opening with a Dec. 5 ribbon-cutting ceremony hosted by The Greater Stillwater Chamber of Commerce along with Luna Rossa employees and owner Raffaele Virgillo.
While continuing to serve traditional Italian food in their restaurant, Luna Rossa Trattoria, Virgillo opened Luna Rossa Wine and Spirits in June and offers a selection of wines, craft beers, and spirits. Virgillo opened the caves to the public and invited everyone into his own walk-in wine cellar.
The damp nature of the caves provides a perfect chilled atmosphere to store and sell wines, spirits and beer. Patrons visit the caves, located off Main Street, for a casual drink. Upon purchase, patrons can either take a guided cave tour or relax on Luna Rossa Wine and Spirits’ shaded patio.
Luna Rossa Wine and Spirits is located at 402 Main St. South. Winter hours are 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and 11 a.m. to 10 –p.m. Saturday. For more information call 651-430-0560 or visit www.lunarossawinebar.com.
