Volleyball: Brandon collects MVP honor for Ponies

Senior libero Maddie Brandon was named the Most Valuable Player for the Stillwater volleyball team, which finished with a 17-11 record this past fall.

One of three all-conference selections for the Stillwater volleyball team, Maddie Brandon was named the Most Valuable Player for the second year in a row at the team’s postseason awards banquet.

The senior libero was joined in earning All-Suburban East Conference honors by teammates Bri Horwath and Savannah Sprenger from a team that finished with a 17-11 record, including 7-2 to tie Roseville and East Ridge for second place in the Suburban East Conference. Stillwater was later eliminated by East Ridge 3-2 in the Section 4AAA quarterfinals.

Susan Evans, Steph Dietrich and Steph Houle were honorable mention all-conference selections for the Ponies.

Horwath, a senior, who led the Ponies with 254 kills and also totaled 25 blocks, was a Second Team selection to the All-Pioneer Press Team.

Ellen Larson and Autumn Nyenhuis were recipients of the Pony Award while Brooke Hunter was chosen the Most Improved Player.

Captains for the 2013 team are expected to be named in the spring.
