District 43 lawmakers host meeting

Sen. Chuck Wiger, Sen.-elect Susan Kent, Rep. Leon Lillie and Reps.-elect Peter Fischer and JoAnn Ward invite residents in the new state Senate District 43 to a pair of town hall meetings next month.

The two sessions give district residents the opportunity to meet their lawmakers and discuss issues in the 2013 Legislative session that opens Jan. 8 in St. Paul.

Wiger, Lillie and Ward will attend a meeting on the “B” side of the district at 9 a.m. at Oakdale City Hall. Wiger, Kent and Fischer attend a meeting for the district’s “A” side at 10:30 a.m. at Century College in Room 2090 on the West Campus.

Residents are encouraged to attend the sessions and bring questions and concerns related to the upcoming legislative session.

White Bear Lake food shelf hosts events

WHITE BEAR LAKE — The White Bear Lake Area Food Shelf hosts a two-day “BEAR’ly Open” fundraiser Feb. 1-2 that includes a dance and golf on ice, event organizers announced.

The fundraiser starts with an 8 p.m. Feb. 1 community dance at the White Bear Country Inn featuring the music of RAGGS. Dance entry fee is $10.

The Ramsey County Beach on White Bear Lake is the site of the “Golf on Ice” tournament from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 2. Fees are $25 for adults and $10 for students for registrations received by Jan. 1. Starting Jan. 2, fees increase to $30 for adults and $15 for students.
