The Dec. 15 benefit held for Zach Sobiech and the Children’s Cancer Research Fund was a great success.

According to Children’s Cancer Research Fund Marketing and Communications Coordinator Kelly Schultz, an estimated 800 guests attended the event at Withrow Ballroom and the proceeds exceeded $16,000.

Half of that money went to the Zach Sobiech Osteosarcoma Fund and the other half went to the Sobiech family. Sobiech’s fund has raised over $30,000 so far for future research, so children diagnosed after Sobiech will have a better chance for a cure. Sobiech’s diagnosis is terminal.

Sobiech is known for his singing voice and his song, “Clouds” has garnered national and international attention. The video on YouTube has surpassed 1 million hits. The song can be purchased on iTunes and other music sites. All proceeds will support Sobiech’s fund.

Sobiech’s CD, “Blueberries,” that he created with his friend Sammy Brown, is available to people who make a $20 or more donation to Zach’s fund. Donations to the Zach Sobiech Osteosarcoma Fund can be made at www.ChildrensCancer.org/Zach
