When the holiday season ends, recycle your Christmas tree or wreath by dropping it off at one five Washington County recycling sites.
Residents must remove tree stands, plastic bags, tinsel, wire, lights and other decorations before dropping off trees and wreaths. Residents should also note hours, fees and other restrictions for each recycling site. Recycling sites are:
n RSI at 201 Second Ave. South in Bayport is open year-round to all residents. Hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 8 a.m. to noon Saturday. Cost is $5 per tree. Call River City Services at 651-430-2809 for information.
n Rumpca Companies, Inc. at 9600 Glendenning Road in Cottage Grove is open to all residents Jan. 5 and 6 and Jan. 12 and 13. Hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. - Forest Lake Public Works Department at 843 S.W. Fourth St. is open Dec. 26 to Jan. 27 for Forest Lake residents only. Residents can drop off their trees and wreaths at no charge. Call Forest Lake Public Works at 651-464-3220 for more information.
- City of Oakdale Public Works at 1900 Hadley Ave. North is open Dec. 26 through Jan. 31 to Oakdale residents only. Hours are 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and cost is $3 per tree. Call Oakdale Public Works at 651-730-2740 for more information.
- Composting Concepts at 4600 Cottage Grove Drive in Woodbury is open 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Jan. 5 and Jan. 12 to all residents. Cost is $6 per tree and $5 per wreath. Call Composting Concepts at 651-436-1213 for more information.
Some private waste haulers, cities or townships might also accept Christmas trees. Residents should contact those organizations for more information.
