Larry Carlson

Carlson

A memorial service for Larry Carlson, 68, of Stillwater, is 11 a.m. Dec. 19 at The Episcopal Church of the Ascension, 214 N. Third St. in Stillwater with a lunch to follow.  In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Ascension, Planned Parenthood or donor’s choice.

Larry died Sunday, Dec. 9 after a long battle with cancer. He is survived by his beloved wife, Kathy (Krog); brother Norm (Debbie) Carlson of Norman, Okla.; daughter Barb (Dan) Black of Washington County; son Greg Carlson of Minneapolis; daughter-in-law Sarah (Larry) West of Houston, and grandchildren Freesia Carlson, Ayesha, Isabel and Jennifer Carlson, and Dillon, Harrison and Cameron West, and many nieces and nephews.

Retired from Maplewood Imports where he was a Mercedes and Porsche expert, Larry spent 40 years in the car business. He was proud that his customers returned because he was always honest and helped them find what they wanted.

An exceptionally kind and accepting man, Larry loved people like family. He was also adventurous, canoeing and camping in the Boundary Waters every year, owning and driving Porsche convertibles, and he and Kathy spent many years riding Harleys,  going to Sturgis, S.D., and traveling all over the U.S. They also spent time in Europe, Egypt and Israel and kept returning to Paris, their first love.

Larry leaves behind many friends.

Larry was a true and valued friend for fifteen years. I have never met anyone as genuinely good and kind. I only wish our time together could have lasted longer.
