Junior midfielder Leah Nitardy was named the Most Valuable Player for the Stillwater girls’ soccer team following its 12-5-2 season.
The Ponies finished 6-2-1 to place second behind White Bear Lake in the Suburban East Conference standings. Stillwater also lost to the eventual state runner-up Bears 1-0 in the Section 4AA finals.
Nitardy, who finished with two goals and one assist, was joined by teammates Natalie Johnson, Maddie Schaak and Allie Boucher in receiving All-SEC honors. Megan Holthaus, Hannah Okerstrom, Jaime Purdie and Shelby Litchy were honorable mention all-conference recipients.
Schaak, who provided five goals and three assists, was an honorable mention all-state selection by the Minnesota State High School Soccer Coaches Association and was honorable mention for the All-Pioneer Press Team.
After leading the Ponies with 13 goals and three assists for 16 points, Litchy was received the Best Offensive Player Award and Natalie Johnson garnered the Best Defensive Player Award.
Boucher collected the Impact Player Award while Mackenzie Farrington received the Coaches Award. Abby Ellingson was presented the Big Red Award.
Also announced at the team’s postseason banquet is that Nitardy and Johnson will serve as captains for the 2013 team.
