MINNEAPOLIS — Stillwater dancers Zoe D’Astolfo, 11, and Cosette Falker, 13, will join a cast of 72 student dancers, the Minnesota Dance Theatre company dancers, along with special guest artists to be announced in performances of Loyce Houlton’s “Nutcracker Fantasy” from Dec. 14-24 at the Cowles Center Goodale Theater, 528 Hennepin Ave.
After almost 50 years and more than 1.2 million audience members, Houlton’s Nutcracker Fantasy continues to enchant audiences of all ages. Houlton’s beautifully crafted choreography, danced to the music of Tchaikovsky, remains one of Minnesota’s most treasured holiday traditions.
Tickets are virtually sold out for all Nutcracker Fantasy performances, but there’s still a way to get great seats. Each year, Minnesota Dance Theatre and the Cowles Center hold back a select number of seats so people interested in attending the Nutcracker Tea Party can also purchase tickets to the performance for the same day.
Nutcracker Tea Party tickets may be purchased via The Cowles Center box office at 612-206-3600. When you advise the ticket agent you are also interested in attending the Nutcracker Fantasy performance, Cowles will then open up reserved seats to either of the weekend performances for selection and
The two exclusive Nutcracker Tea Parties are 4 p.m. Dec. 15 and noon Sunday, Dec. 16. It includes a sparkling sit-down event with treats and sandwiches, a backstage tour, a take-away photograph of guests ages 12 and younger with select cast and a distinctive memento. Space is limited. Cost is $49 for children 12 and younger and $54 for adults. Cost includes the Cowles Center’s $4 handling fee. Performance is not included in Tea Party price.
