Steven O. Schultz, 61, of Stillwater, passed away on Dec. 3, 2012, at home, surrounded by his family after a six-year struggle with cancer.
Steven is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Norma Jean Schultz, and mother-in-law, Lenore Larson. He is survived by his wife Deb, sons Christopher and Kevin, and daughter Carolyn; brother Kurt; sister, Mary Beth Schultz (Mark Merrill); father-in-law, Oren Larson; brothers and sisters in-laws Mark and Linda Pipkorn, Jeff and Joyce Brown, and Tom and Joan Larson; nieces and nephews, Tim, Elisabeth, Jenny, Kristina, Andy and Ashley, and cousins Linda (Grear) Kimmel, Becky (John) Each, Barbara Cressy and Kenneth and Ronald Schultz.
Steve was a talented writer, guitar player and good friend to many. Born in Aurora, Ill., he was a graduate of Rich Central High School in Olympia Fields, Ill., Valparaiso University in Valparaiso, Ind., and Governor’s State University, University Park, Ill. He worked in communications and project management for companies including IBM, TIES, NCR-Comten, AT&T, Unisys, USWest (Qwest), and finally Trane Climate Control Systems in White Bear Lake.
Along with his family, Steve will be missed by his past and present co-workers and his North Shore Grease band mates, Scott, Craig, Jerry and Ben.
A service to remember Steve and celebrate his life is 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 10 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Stillwater with visitation two hours prior to the service. Memorials can be directed to the family, Lakeview Hospital Foundation or the American Cancer Society.
Many thanks to the doctors and nurses at Lakeview Hospital who took great care of Steve over the years, to the employees at Trane and to the congregations of Our Savior’s and First Presbyterian Church of Stillwater who kept Steve, Deb, and their kids in their prayers.
