Girls hockey: Balanced Ponies overwhelm Woodbury

Ten different players collected at least one point as the Stillwater girls’ hockey team dispatched Woodbury 7-1 in Tuesday’s Suburban East Conference game at the St. Croix Valley Rec Center.

The Ponies (2-1-0 SEC, 3-3-1) jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first period on goals by Jane Vezina, Hannah Okerstrom and Ali Biagini. Carlie Hart and Okerstrom increased Stillwater’s lead with a goal each in the second period.

Erin Goodell scored for Woodbury to spoil Stillwater’s shutout bid, but Vezina and Sara Bustad also tallied goals for the Ponies to build a six-goal cushion.

Allison Pasiuk made 11 saves in two periods while Shelby Anderson turned away three shots in the third for the Ponies, who held a 40-15 advantage in shots on goal.
