The Lakeview Hospital EMS team began its “Movember” journey with “Shave the Date” Nov. 1 when team members shaved their faces clean at Le Beau’s Barber Shop in downtown Stillwater.

Then during the rest of the month, the Mo Medics & Mo Friends team helped create awareness for men’s health and prostate cancer by growing mustaches.

“It’s not really about the mustache — it’s about somebody asking why you’re growing that ugly mustache,” said Wade Watson, team captain and Lakeview paramedic.

Mo Medics & Mo Friends currently ranks 99 out of 14,339 teams in the United States. Their team consists of more than 100 Twin Cities EMS staff, firefighters and friends. A new addition to the team this year was Lakeview Health’s Urology department.

On Friday, the Mo Medics & Mo Friends will gather at Smalley’s in downtown Stillwater in celebration of their journey to raise awareness for men’s health. Photos will be taken and a vote held for the “best mustache.”
