NEW RICHMOND, Wis. — More than 200 people attended the Fourth Annual Crowning Achievements Special Needs pageant Nov. 3 at Faith Community Church in New Richmond.
Seventeen Crowning Achievements candidates became the group’s 2012 royalty. Those crowned included Crystal Katelhut, Kyelee Leonard, Tammy Utecht, Alicia Nesse, Emily Bowen, Rachel Laust, Sean Denison, Tony Geving, Jake Peterson, Melissa Schultz, Ali Sutter, Karen Langfeldt, Marilee Goeelz, Tracy Green, Kandra Meinke, Vanessa Harger and Ginny Cahoon.
Paul McIntyre returned as our emcee for the event and entertainment was provided by some of the candidates including singing, poetry and dance. We were honored to have several visiting royalty in attendance including Roberts and Hammond, Wis., and Oakdale, Minn., including our own 2010 Crowning Achievements princess Amanda Lorenz.
Refreshments were served at a post-pageant reception, followed by a raffle of more than 150 items donated by various local businesses in Stillwater, Hudson, New Richmond and River Falls. The raffle helps raise funds to keep our program or monthly activities and the yearly pageant cost-free for our participants. Program participants are from throughout the St. Croix Valley area including Houlton, Hudson, Stillwater, River Falls and New Richmond. Anyone with special needs who is over 16 years of age can participate. Please watch for announcements of our new candidate meeting at the end of January. We will post it on Facebook and in area papers.
