Senior Maria Morley was named the Most Valuable Athlete for the Stillwater girls’ cross country team at its postseason awards banquet at Oak Glen Golf Club earlier this month.

Morley received all-conference honorable mention recognition after helping the Ponies to a sixth-place finish in the Suburban East Conference, which advanced four teams to the state meet — including three that placed among the top eight. Morley joined Erika Buchholz and Elise Buchman in serving as captains this fall.

Sophomore Abby Lange was Stillwater’s lone all-conference honoree and later finished 27th at the state meet. The Ponies placed fourth at the Section 4AA championships.

Bria Eder-Zdechlik, Grace Mikutowski and Haley Beech will serve as captains for the 2013 team.
