WCSO Mounted Patrol seeks volunteers
The Washington County Sheriff’s mounted patrol is accepting applications for volunteers interested in joining the unit.
The unit trains in search and rescue, disaster containment, flood patrol, parades, safety camps, county fair patrols and other community functions.

PowerUP for trip to Lambeau Field
PowerUP, a program designed to make it easy and fun for kids to eat better and move more is offering tickets to the Vikings versus Packers game Dec. 2 at Lambeau Field.

Open casting call set for show
BLOOMINGTON, Minn. — O’Connor Casting Co. of Chicago holds an open casting call Dec. 1 at the Mall of America for any Norwegian-American interested in applying for Season 4 of Norway’s Emmy Award-winning reality TV show, “Alt for Norge” (The Great Norway Adventure).
The open call is 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. in the Executive Center on Level Four at the Mall of America. The auditions are open to all Americans with Norwegian ancestry (even a little bit counts) who are U.S. citizens 18 years of age or older and have never traveled to Norway.
The last three seasons of the show have featured six Minnesotans including a minister, professor, belly dance instructor, security officer, insurance agents and performance artist.

Visions of sugar plums, holiday music at school
The East Metro Symphony Orchestra (EMSO) is partnering with the young ballet dancers of Woodbury Dance Center along with other community musicians to present “Visions of Sugarplums: A Collaboration of Dance and Music” at 3 p.m. Dec. 9 at Stillwater Junior High School.
The collaboration brings together 60 young dancers ages 6-18 to perform selections from “The Nutcracker.” The performance opens with holiday music from the EMSO and a holiday sing-along at the end of the night.
This is the third collaboration between Woodbury Dance Center and the EMSO. Laura Greenwell, of Woodbury Dance Center is the choreographer.
Tickets can be purchased at the door or through Woodbury Dance Cneter. Tickets cost $10 for adults, $8 for students and $6 for seniors. Groups of 10 or more seniors and youths 5 years and younger get in free. Visit www.emsorch.org for more information.
