The delayed move of the Bergstein Shoddy Mill and warehouse from Oak Park Heights to Stillwater is back on beginning late tonight into Thursday morning, state Department of Transportation officials announced late today.
The Minnesota State Patrol will close parts of Minnesota Highways 36 and 95 from 10 p.m. tonight to 5 a.m. Thursday so crews can move the two buildings to a site across from the River Oasis Café.
A Global Specialty crew will move the wood-frame warehouse and stone mill building. Global Specialty workers will remove guardrails and trim trees and Xcel Energy crews will raise power lines to aid in the move.
The buildings will be moved to a gravel pad above the new foundation site until Friday morning, when they will be moved into their final positions, according to MnDOT.
The mill and warehouse are being moved as part of mitigation work for the new St. Croix River Crossing bridge. Once in place at their new location, the buildings become property of the city of Stillwater.
