Pearson ousts Johnston in Lake Elmo

Lake Elmo City Councilman Mike Pearson earned what turned out to be an easy victory over incumbent Mayor Dean Johnston Tuesday while incumbent City Councilwoman Anne Smith and newcomer Justin Bloyer won the two at-large council posts, ousting incumbent Councilman Brett Emmons.
Complete but unofficial returns from the city’s two precincts in the mayoral race showed Pearson received 2,633 votes, or 58.36 percent to Johnston’s 1,619 votes, or 35.88 percent and Nicholas Duffy polled 249 votes, or 5.52 percent.
In the race for the two at-large council seats, Bloyer polled 2,327 votes, or 31.37 percent and Smith received 2,252 votes, or 30.35 percent. Emmons was third with 1,869 votes, 25.19 percent and a fourth candidate, Greg Hall, received 950 votes, 12.80 percent.
