Girls cross country: Lange finishes 27th at state

Stillwater sophomore Abby Lange finished 27th at Saturday’s Class AA girls’ cross country state meet at St. Olaf College in Northfield.

NORTHFIELD — Sophomore Abby Lange represented the Stillwater girls’ cross country team with a 27th place finish in Saturday’s Class AA state meet at St. Olaf College in Northfield.

Lange completed the 4,000-meter course in 14:48.8, which was more than a minute behind individual state champion Maria Hauger of Shakopee, who blistered the previous course record in a time of 13:42.0 to win her fourth straight gold medal.

In the team competition, Wayzata scored 50 points to outdistance runner-up Eagan (93) and third-place Edina (129). Three Suburban East Conference teams placed in the top eight, led by Forest Lake in fourth place with a score of 161. East Ridge (163) was just two points back in fifth place and Roseville followed in eighth at 200.
