Adapted soccer: Ponies win fourth in a row
OAK PARK HEIGHTS — The Stillwater adapted soccer team extended its winning streak to four in a row after holding off St. Cloud Area 6-3 on Tuesday at Stillwater Area High School.
St. Cloud Area, which includes players from St. Cloud Apollo, St. Cloud Tech, Sartell-St. Stephen and Sauk Rapids-Rice high schools, was the state runner-up a year ago.
“We haven’t beaten St. Cloud in eight or nine years,” Ponies coach Rob Hollerbach said.
Stillwater held a 3-2 halftime lead and was also clinging to a one-goal lead in the second half before Austin Harjes scored two late goals to provide the final margin.
“It was an intense game,” Hollerbach said.
Riley Cludy, who also played well in goal for the Ponies, joined Harjes with two goals while Dan Pehrson contributed one goal and two assists. Wesley Dahle also chipped in with a goal while Devin Wildes, Cali Capistrant and Hannah Johnson each provided an assist.
