Stillwater Area Public Schools – ISD 834

DESCRIPTION OF PROPOSED SCHOOL CONSTRUCTION PROJECT

The Stillwater Independent School District 834 is proposing a series of deferred maintenance projects at Stillwater High School, Oak-Land Junior High, and district-wide projects.

The Stillwater High School project will include roofing replacement, masonry repair, tuckpointing, flooring replacement, track replacement, pool lighting, and other deferred maintenance repairs. The Oak-Land Junior High project will include tennis court replacements, pool lighting, and other deferred maintenance repairs. The district is planning to complete a wide range of deferred maintenance projects at school sites district-wide in 2013-14.

The total cost of the proposed project is estimated at $4,210,200. The district is proposing to finance the project under Minn. Stat. § 123B.59 Alternative Facilities Bonding and Levy program through an Alternative Facility Pay 2013 “pay-as-you go” levy. The components of the project funded under alternative facilities are subject to alternative facility program approval. The school board believes that this project is in the best interest of the school district.

REVIEW AND COMMENT STATEMENT

Based upon the Department’s analysis of the school district’s required documentation and other pertinent information from sources of the Minnesota Department of Education, the Commissioner of Education has judged the project to be educationally and economically advisable.
