Partnership Plan receives Huelsmann Foundation gift
The Partnership Plan, educational foundation for Stillwater Area Public Schools, received a $25,000 donation from the Huelsmann Foundation to support the Stillwater Area High School’s Fabrication Lab, according to Partnership Plan officials
The Hueslmann Foundation joins other community partners in supporting the innovative working laboratory where SAHS students can design, build and test concepts and ideas. It is part of an Independent School District 834 commitment to provide students with a cutting edge STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) education to prepare students for the jobs of the future.
ISD 834, the Partnership Plan and district staff, along with local businesses and foundations, began plans for a Fabrication Lab in last spring. Several generous donations helped the district to begin offering laboratory classes this fall. It is expected to take three to five more years to fully fund and equip the lab.
“We are still in Phase One of creating the Fabrication Lab, said Laura Fredericks, Partnership Plan executive director. “There is still more equipment to be purchased to accommodate more students and projects. The community — including parents, local businesses and organizations — has really stepped up to support this effort. We have made amazing progress, but we still have a ways to go.”
The Huelsmann Foundation grant will allow the program to take another step forward, Fredericks added.
“We are extremely grateful for the donation from the Huelsmann Foundation, she said. “Their investment in our program will allow us to keep providing staff and students access to this unique resource.”
The Huelsmann Foundation donation, as well as any other donation to the fabrication laboratory, will be matched dollar-for-dollar up to $50,000 a year through a matching challenge grant from the Hubbard Broadcasting Foundation.
The Partnership Plan provides exciting and innovative learning opportunities for students of Stillwater Area Public Schools.
