Oakdale-Lake Elmo prayer breakfast


The Oakdale-Lake Elmo Prayer breakfast takes place at the Prom Center in Oakdale at 484 Inwood Ave. N. Registration and seating is 6:45 a.m. to 6:55 a.m. and the program begins at 7 a.m. on Nov. 13.

The keynote speaker is Steve Tourek, one of America’s Best Lawyers and current senior executive of Marvin and Windows and Doors. He also serves as lecturer and adjunct professor at St. Thomas University School of Law.

The emcee is Platinum Bank Senior Vice-President of Commercial Banking Marc Cove. Lake Elmo Mayor Dean Johnston gives the greetings and local recording artist Gwen Budish provides the music. Veterans will also be honored.

Search for Miss Teen Washington County underway


If you are single, never been married, and between the ages of 13 to 18, applications are now being accepted for the title of “2013” Miss Teen Washington County.

The teen selected as Miss Teen Washington County will be an ambassador from the area and receive an official title and sash.

The winner represents the county at the Miss Teen Minnesota pageant at Ritsche Auditorium March 16 and 17 in St. Cloud, Minn.

If chosen as Miss Teen Minnesota, participants will receive a prize package and scholarship valued at $10,000 and the chance to represent Minnesota at the Miss Teen International pageant.

Ebba Alvina hosts shopping fundraiser


Antiques and Vintage shop Ebba Alvina hosts a shopping fundraiser Nov. 8-10 at the Historic Stillwater Armory. The three-day event features vintage items and unique hand-crafted items and antiques and includes over 50 vendors. There will be holiday treats for sale by Kristin Klemetsrud of the former Savories Bistro.

The event is 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 8, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Nov. 9, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 10. The armory is at 107 Chestnut St. East in Stillwater.

The event costs $3 at the door and a portion of ticket proceeds go toward the United States Naval Sea Cadet Corps Osceola Division. The Sea Cadets are a group that serves youth that are interested in joining the navy going forward.
